Notifications should be enabled when you first log in to StoryPrompt. If you're not receiving any, follow the steps below to set them up.
In Your StoryPrompt Account:
Click on your avatar at the bottom left and select Preferences.
Select the Notifications tab.
Click Reset push notifications.
If the test is successful you will receive a notification. Click that notification to send a push notification to your device.
If it is not successful, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Desktop
Google Chrome
Open Google Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer.
Visit StoryPrompt.com: Type "https://app.storyprompt.com" in the address bar or click here to go directly to our web app.
Allow Notifications (First Visit): When you first arrive at StoryPrompt, Google Chrome will show a notification prompt asking for permission to show notifications. To proceed, click on the "Allow" or "Enable" button in the notification prompt.
Troubleshooting Notifications (If Not Prompted or Previously Denied):
Look for the "Secure" or "Not secure" label in the address bar next to "https://app.storyprompt.com." If you see "Not secure," click on it to view site information.
In the site information popup, find "Notifications" under "Permissions." If it says "Blocked" or "Ask (default)," click on the dropdown menu and choose "Allow."
After changing the setting, reload the page for the changes to take effect.
Customize Notifications (Optional): You have the option to customize your notification preferences:
Click on the three vertical dots (Customize and control Google Chrome) in the top-right corner of the Chrome window.
Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down and click on "Privacy and security" in the left-hand sidebar.
Under the "Privacy and security" section, click on "Site settings."
Locate "Notifications" in the list of site settings.
Here, you can manage general notification settings for all websites or find "https://app.storyprompt.com" in the list to customize its notification behavior.
Allow or Block Notifications (Optional): In the "Notifications" settings, you can allow or block notifications for specific websites. If you wish to manage notifications for StoryPrompt specifically, locate "https://app.storyprompt.com" in the list and set it to "Allow" for our notifications.
Safari
Open Safari: Launch the Safari browser on your computer or mobile device.
Visit StoryPrompt.com: Type "https://app.storyprompt.com" in the address bar or simply click here to directly access our web app.

iPhone
Add StoryPrompt to Your Home Screen:
Launch Safari on your iPhone.
Visit "https://app.storyprompt.com" to access our PWA.
Tap the "Share" icon at the bottom of the Safari window (it looks like a square with an arrow pointing upward).
Scroll down and select "Add to Home Screen."
Confirm by tapping "Add" in the top-right corner.
Allow Notifications for StoryPrompt PWA:
Once you have the StoryPrompt icon on your home screen, tap it to open the app.
When you first launch the app, Safari will ask for notification permission.
Tap "Allow" to enable notifications for our PWA.
Review Notification Settings:
If you didn't receive the notification prompt or want to review notification settings:
Go to your iPhone's Settings.
Find "StoryPrompt" in the list of apps.
Tap on "Notifications" to view your notification preferences.
Ensure that notifications are enabled for "StoryPrompt."
Allow or Block Specific Notifications (Optional):
To manage notifications for specific categories within the StoryPrompt PWA:
Go to your iPhone's Settings.
Find "StoryPrompt" in the list of apps.
Select "Notifications."
Inside "StoryPrompt," you can enable or disable notifications.
Android
Add StoryPrompt to Your Home Screen:
Open Google Chrome on your Android device.
Visit "https://app.storyprompt.com" to access our PWA.
Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of Chrome to open the menu.
Select "Add to Home Screen" from the menu options.
Confirm by tapping "Add" in the pop-up.
Grant Notifications Permission for StoryPrompt PWA:
Once you have added the StoryPrompt PWA to your home screen, tap its icon to launch the app.
Upon the first visit, Chrome will ask for notification permission.
Tap "Allow" to enable notifications for our PWA.
Troubleshooting Notifications (If Not Prompted or Previously Denied):
Open Device Settings > Notifications > StoryPrompt.
Make sure push permissions are enabled for your device.
Some devices have a specific battery optimization that will stop or decrease rate of notifications showing. In Settings, search for:
Power Saving Mode or Energy Saving - If "Power Saving Mode" and/or "Limit apps and Home Screen" is enabled, this will limit all background activity (push notifications) from being received.
Adaptive power saving mode - If enabled, device will automatically turn on/off "Power Saving Mode" based on your usage patterns.
Battery Optimization or Background usage limits - Battery optimized apps will have background functions (like push notifications) restricted. Make sure StoryPrompt is Not Optimized.
